The 10th annual Sporting Clays Classic!

THE PROBLEM

As Americans, we heavily rely on the hard work that is often done behind the scenes. Whether it’s transportation, farming, energy, food production, first responders, or countless other professions, the American population cannot be what it is without them. As time has gone on and technology has advanced, many of our nation's young people entering the labor force are shying away from these jobs and pursuing careers in technology, finance, and other “white collar” trades. As important as these industries may be, we as a society cannot forget those who wake up before sunrise, work with their hands, and come exhausted, but are prepared to do it again the next day.

THE SOLUTION

Businesses and associations across the country are working to serve these “blue-collar” trades. One of which is the Midwest Food Products Association (MWFPA). The MWFPAs mission is to “advocate on public policy issues including food safety, workforce, and environmental regulations; connect across the industry through updates and networking; and provide education through training, scholarships, and research.”.

For the past 10 years, the MWFPA has hosted the Annual MWFPA Sporting Clays Classic at Milford Hills Hunt Club! This year, it was held on October 13th. Their charitable sponsors consist of brands such as Seneca Foods, Del Monte, Lynco Manufacturing, Michael Best, and many more! The Sporting Clays Classic is a charity event that funds MWFPAs scholarship program. There are not many better ways to raise money for a charity than a day full of shooting, camaraderie, and healthy competition! This charity event assists in the payment of tuition for students whose parents work for a company that is a part of the MWFPA and are pursuing degrees in agriculture and food science. This is one of the many ways that the MWFPA is encouraging the next generation to get involved in the agricultural industry, get involved in America's “bedrock” industries, be a part of the solution to the changing trends in career choices, and continue in their families' legacies!

We encourage you to do your part to get involved in associations like this in your area! There are always ways to participate, give back, and have fun while doing so - there might even be a fun day in the range involved!
