United Cigar Group Announces Four New Sizes of Red Anchor
by ATF Magazine Staff
With the incoming tide come four new sizes of Red Anchor for 2023. This 250-year-old brand was originally launched in 1772 by Albertus Hillen Sigarenfabriek in Delft, Holland and was passed down through the family until it was sold in 1890 to Martinus Holland. Martinus expanded the brand until it went out of business in 1937. United Cigars reignited the brand in 2022 with the Kelner Family's help at Hendrik Kelner Jr.'s Kelner Boutique Factory in the Dominican Republic.
The four new sizes for 2023 are Gunner 6.5 x 43 (MSRP $20), Captain 5 x 50 (MSRP $20), Commodore 7 x 55 (MSRP $30), and an event-only size Cooper 4.5 x 43 (MSRP $15). These sizes join the previously launched Admiral 6 x 52 (MSRP $25), which sold out immediately at PCA 2022. According to Hendrik Kelner Jr, the Red Anchor blend holds significance for the Kelner family and their Dutch heritage.
Oliver Nivaud, Director of Operations for United Cigars, expressed excitement for the new sizes, which he feels express the blend's rich history. The Red Anchor line will be available for purchase at PCA 2023, and retailers interested in stocking the brand can find contact information on the United Cigar Group website.
